Butterfly valveTECHNICAL PRODUCT COLLECTION
OPEN THE COLLECTION
How do I choose between a butterfly, ball and gate valve?

Start with the duty and medium, then check pressure, temperature, allowable pressure drop, materials and available space. These designs can provide isolation, but their flow path, operating mechanism and configuration differ. Share the service details so the team can review suitable options.

Can every isolation valve be used to regulate flow?

No. Conventional gate valves and piston isolation valves are intended for fully open or closed operation. A regulation duty needs a suitable valve design and operating arrangement. Confirm flow characteristics and pressure-drop requirements rather than assuming an on/off valve can throttle.

What should I specify for slurry or pulp service?

State the material, solids concentration, particle size, abrasiveness, contaminants and operating frequency. Add flow direction and the required shut-off performance. Knife gate designs vary; the valve, seat and actuator must be matched to the actual stream.

Should I use a pneumatic or electric actuator?

Consider the available site utilities, valve motion and torque, operating frequency, control signal and required response on loss of power or air. Discuss the complete assembly, including feedback, pilot valves and mounting. A fail-open or fail-close function must be specified and confirmed.

Does a lined valve suit every chemical?

No. Review the lining, seat, seals and every wetted component against the exact chemical, concentration, pressure and temperature. The catalogue lists options; the operating conditions determine the suitable configuration.

Are industrial valves automatically suitable for food contact?

No. Plant utility service differs from direct food or beverage contact. Product-contact duties can need dedicated hygienic design, cleaning compatibility and documented material or certification requirements. Identify that requirement in the enquiry so it can be reviewed.

What information should I send for a quotation?

Send the product or intended duty, quantity, fluid, size, connection, operating pressure and temperature, preferred materials and manual or automated operation. Add a drawing or specification when available. The direct enquiry form sends these details to the shared sales inbox.

How do I request drawings, test records or project documentation?

Include the documentation and inspection requirements in your enquiry. Ask the team to confirm the available drawing, dimensional information, test scope and applicable records for the quoted product. A catalogue design standard should not be treated as proof that every project certification is supplied.
